I am Gary Chan, Chief Executive Officer of the Macao and Canada Economic and Trade Association (Canada). The Macao and Canada Economic and Trade Association was registered with the Canadian federal government in 2014 and with the Macao Special Administrative Region Government of China in 2015 as a non-profit organisation. Our mission : to be an important platform for bilateral economic and trade development, tourism, education and cultural exchanges. With the support of governments from both sides and numerous chambers of commerce; along with the efforts of President Carmen Lei and all members, we are committed to playing the role of platform bridging both regions. Since our inception, the association has continuously organized Canadian delegations of companies to participate in the annual Macao International Trade and Investment Fair (MIF) in Macao, and established a Canadian pavilion with the support of the Macao, China government. Together with Canadian companies, we participate in exhibitions and conferences in Macao through this association, increasing their exposure and achieving fruitful results. The mandate of Macao and Canada Economic and Trade association has been committed to collaborate with the strategic development positioning of the Macao Special Administrative Region as “one center, one platform and one base” in helping Macao to become the “ World centre of Tourism and Leisure”. The “China and Portuguese-speaking countries Commercial and Trade Service Platform”,  and the "Exchange and Cooperation Base with Chinese culture as the mainstream and coexistence of different Cultures". These initiatives will drive more Canadian companies to promote the economic and trade development between Canada, Macao and the Greater Bay Area. At the same time, we support industries such as “Big Health” industry; modern financial services; high and new technology; convention and exhibition, sports, and the commercial and trade industries” we assist in talent introduction, project implementation, and build a new diversified and sustainable Macao industry structure. It is believed that under the current guidance of the HengQin - Guangdong Macao (Qin’Ao) in-depth Cooperation Zone, which adopts and strengthens support for institutional mechanisms; establishes a new framework under the principle of “mutual discussion, joint construction, joint administration and shared benefits.” and will gradually implement various reforms and opening-up policies and measures in a step-by-step manner, in order to pragmatically promote the development of the cooperation zone and accelerate efforts to reach in a phased manner, achieving all efforts and goals. Qin-Ao integration will inject new vitality and provide new space for the long-term development of the bay area.
